The Tunguska Event
The Tunguska Event
On the morning of June 30, 1908, Russian settlers near Lake Baikal watched a bluish light almost as bright as the sun streak across the sky. Moments later along the horizon, a bright flash and a pillar of fire cast the landscape in a red glow. Ten minutes later after the light had faded to darkness a sound similar to artillery fire was heard. At the same moment, a shockwave knocked people off their feet and shattered windows. This is known as The Tunguska event.
